The last post......for now.

First al all, I must to say that the experience writing blogs was something that I had never done, and in this opportunity, I´m going to write about things that marked me in this experience:

·       The post that I enjoyed writing most was about “A present”, I remembered my weekend´s trip to Algarrobo with my mom and this present was so special for me because, I always wanted to back to Algarrobo and El Quisco since my childhood and I was happy for have had this experience.

·         The post that I enjoyed writing least, well see……maybe was about the “10 things that I wanted to do before I die” because, I didn´t have idea about what things had to post. In fact, I must to improvise this post, and the other thing, my mind wasn´t concentrated in that moment in another work.

·         Who I most enjoyed to read its post was Pia Navarrete, because, in every Friday, she always was interesting topics that make me comment it every time.

·          The most attractive blog….. I think that Tamara Monsalve have it. The reason is the soft color that she applied it, making a blog really feminine and that is cute xD.

·         I liked in general, the experience to writing blogs, because is one of a lot of tools that I have to practice my English and well, about things that disliked me was some topic that I did it without inspiration for external reasons to this subject. In any case, I will miss to post in Fridays for University J

My favorite cartoon character!

I have seen so many animated cartoons in my childhood that is hard to decide which I will talk about, but I stay with a cartoon that mark my innocent childhood: Sailor Moon, and its principal character, Serena Sukino.
The first time when I saw this cartoon, I was approximately, 5 or 6 years old. I started to follow it in a childish TV show called “El Club de los Tigritos”, which was a TV program where made some conquest for kids and transmitted a variety of cartoons, between them, Sailor Moon was transmitted. I like this character because make me laugh with her stupid things that sometimes she did and especially, for her clothes of Sailor Scout and powers that she had.

Serena is a very scatterbrained girl, dumb, always think about a blue prince that loves her, but also she became serious when must to keep her mission to be a Sailor Scout and fight against evil that in every occasion threat the Earth planet.

I don´t have a favorite episode, but I would say that was the last chapter of the first season, because that was the first big battle that Sailor Moon had to face.

My school travel

One of the things that I´ll always keep in my memories is my school travel, which was doing in 2008. I remember that it was so hard to do because my course must to collect a lot of money (I don´t remember how much money was), so since ninth grade we start to doing different activities for collect money, as completadas, raffles, bingos, everything that be used for our goal.
Finally, we got the money that we needed to doing our school travel. This travel last almost one week and we going to south of Chile, passing by Osorno, Bariloche , Ancud, Puerto Varas and Valdivia and all the travel and their routes was making in bus

All the places where we passed are such beautiful, but Puerto Varas is my favorite city .We stay there 2 days and when we arrive to this city, the first that we doing was wet in the shore of the Llanquihue Lake and in the night we dance in a discotheque (near to hotel where we stay) until 3 AM, the coolest thing: it was reserved only for us!! However, I’ll never forget the typical landscape of Puerto Varas: the Llanquihue Lake and the Volcano Osorno straight ahead.

The day we returned to Santiago, I don´t want to back because I was a very good time knowing wonderful places and sharing time with my classmates. Definitely, this was a such beautiful experience that beat all the expectatives!!.

A movie: The Great Dictator!

One of the things that neither calls my attention is movies. But , as all in this life, it has its exception and I´ve seen low movies that really makes me see it again or remember it for long time and one of that films is called The Great Dictator.

I saw this film (in DVD) in my house with my mom, my dad and my young brother because my mom wanted to see it some time ago. The director and principal actor is Charles Chaplin who performs two roles: Hynkel (parody version of Hitler) and a Jew barber; also performs Paulette Goddard, Reginald Gardiner and Henry Daniell. This film is a comedy because it parodies about some important events happened of the Second World War as Hitler dictatorship and pursuit to Jewish, look it from a funny and critic point of view.

Basically, Chaplin appears as a Jew barber in this ghetto and he don´t release that times has changed because Hynkel, who makes a lot of crazy things in its dictatorship. In the way, he met the character of Goddard, he fell in love of her and they try to avoid soldiers that wants catch them, but they are busted; anyways, they get escape.

I really enjoyed this film because, besides of make us laugh a lot, it gives an emotional message and critic about our behavior between us, refer to freedom of nation under dictatorship, to let weapons and be more humans each other.

1o things that I want to do before I die

Is something difficult to me say about things that I want to do before I die because……..I never have thinking about it! But I´ll try:

1.       The first thing that I would like to do is go to an electrical music party, one of these big events as Mysteryland, Sessation or Creamfields, because all the expressions of happiness, euphoria and the feeling that nothing care you is in these events, you are completely free (always with responsibility).

2.       The second thing is go to a theatre, I never have been in a theatre and I think that could be a good option to know it, although I don’t know what type of theatre work likes to me.

3.        Go to” Ocktoberfest” event because…..yes, I like beer but I don´t want to be unconscious for drinks.  Moreover, this event isn´t just drink like a crazy guy, also has music, contests, a great ambient and that´s things want to enjoy.

4.       Go to a big concert as Coldplay. Some time ago that I want to do it, but I never can because money or something important that I have to do to last hour, and I would like because this is another way of forget the stress of week, month or the year: you can sing, scream, jump without worry about people can thinks about you are doing.

5.       Travel again to south to Chile with my family, especially to Puerto Varas, Chiloe or Valdivia: when I traveled for my school travel 4 years ago, I falling in love of these places.  They have a natural beauty that makes you want to return to them: its weather, its very blue sky, its green fields and the sea (or lake in case of Puerto Varas) gives them a special landscape and I would like that my family would have the opportunity to know these wonderful places.

6.       Keeping the topic of travels, I would like to know the city of Denver, EEUU. Some time ago I saw a TV show that was making in that place, and its showing beautiful mountain landscapes (seems like landscapes of south of Chile). After to Denver, I want to go to Las Vegas, Miami, New York or Santa Monica.

7.       Travel in a cruise, I don´t mind the destiny of the trip, is about to know how is sail over a cruise with all its luxuries things and sure, the sensation of the wind that touch the face and breath the saline breeze.

8.       Go to camping: I never have camping and I would like to do it in some place of Cajon del Maipo or south of Chile (maybe in Villarrica) to know how is sleep, see the stars at night in a cloudless sky and live in the nature for a few days.

9.       Trip in a airplane, although I have a little of scare to up, it must be a great sensation to feeling light and see all the landscape down.

10.   Give to my mom a house in some place of south of Chile, she always say that she wants to live in the nature, breath clean air, far away of the crazy live style of Santiago, and I would like to make her  wish come true because she deserves it and even more.

I have had thinking about someone of my family to talk in this topic. Is a little difficult because actually  don´t feel that I have a special connection with someone of them, but if I had to choose someone to talk about this, would be my cousin Karina.
Karina is 12 years old, she is in a discommoding situation for her age because its parents are separated, so Monday to Friday she lives with her mom, old brother and grandmother , and weekends she stay with her dad in Cerrillos. As she is just a child, studies at elementary school in 7th grade: at school, she recognizes that is a regular student because she doesn’t like some signatures as language and history.
The truth is that I don´t had a strong relationship with them when I was child, but when my uncle and Karina start to have problems, I saw them with more frequency. Even, in holydays (since…..2009) we go with them to my dad house or when my dad comes to Santiago, my mom invites them to my house; so, I can say that I see her generally…….often 2 times a month.
I can say with Karina, is who I have a better relationship between all my cousins, because physically….we are like sisters to see her face and psychologically,  we had quiet persons and we had similar things that we like in videogames and music. But that really identify us is that we lives similar process in our life.

A Favorite Beach!

First of all, I must say that my favorite place to rest is the beach. For me, see the waves of the sea, sit in the sand and breath the coastal air makes me relax so much, especially in holidays or in a long weekend.

In a holidays of 2007 (I guess), I saw in a map that there was a beach that we didn´t know called Laguna Verde, that is a little town located not too far to south of Valparaiso; I told it to my mom and we decided to go for now it because we like to be adventurer in holidays in the sense to know other places. You can two options to arrive to Laguna Verde: in a local bus that pass often 20 minutes, or in a car, we took the first option because we haven´t a car (if we have had it, we didn’t know the way for arrive to the beach).

This beach is located in a rural area, you see around hills, many trees, and little houses; also, is a very long beach. When my mom, my brother and I arrived there, was something very amazing; we sit on the sand, we ate snacks, we played to throw a tennis ball and we listened our music.

I like too much this place because is one of the low beaches that don´t full of people on summer, the ambient is so quiet and you can see clearly the start on night. It just 2 defects: the sea is such cold that if you wet your feet…….you frozen! , and for people that can arrive only by bus, you must to go out of the beach very early because the last bus pass at 8:30 pm.  Anyways, is a place that worth to know.

A special present....

The present which I´m going to talk isn´t a material present. I don´t know, but for some reason I was obsessed with the idea to go to Algarrobo; I think that always remember my only time when I went to that place when I was 2 or 3 years old and after of these trip, I started to going to Viña del Mar for holidays because my dad´s family lives here there, so when I travel with my family, we know that we have a secure place where we stay on holidays.

Since that childhood travel to Algarrobo, I didn´t come back to it, maybe for low money or low time, but recently this year in the first days of August, finally I came back to Algarrobo. My parents gave me this especial present because my successfully last semester, but just my mom companies me to travel.

We get down when the bus passed for El Quisco (commune very close to Algarrobo) because in that place we found a place where we stayed all the weekend. When we went to Algarrobo (in a local bus) I tried to recognize some places, for example, El Canelo beach (I really loved that place), the yachting club and its little downtown.

I really appreciate that present because my wish to come back to Algarrobo came true, and also we had such good time in our stay on El Quisco, especially the night walking around El Canelo little forest for changing airs of Viña.

Open Blondie Halloween Party 2011

The last memorable party for me was the Open Blondie Halloween party of the last year that is a costume party that was carried out in Club Hípico.

I remember that was a long weekend at the end of October, where I passed some days in the house of my dad in Viña and the 31th day I came back alone to Santiago while my mom, my uncle and my cousin stayed one day more in Viña. When I arrived to my house, my friend was waiting for me, so we entered to my house, we dressed up (she went of zombie cheerleader and I went only with black clothes) and we went in bus dressed up. First, we met with some friends (we´re just  5 persons) in Plaza de Maipú and we took together the bus toward Club Hipico already to midnight, the curious thing was that in the bus there are many people dressed up, with some beautiful costumes……the great majority we went to Open Blondie.

When we arrived it, we try to went around the different music ambient …….it was so hard because all these ambient were full, but when finally found a good ambient, we started to dance, sing, jump….we had a very good time, but I (at least)  can´t drank  because beers were so expensive. Anyways, I really enjoyed these party because it was the first officially Halloween party that I had been after to many years to trick or trit.

HAPPY 18TH SEPTEMBER!

When I celebrate Fiestas Patrias I liked to go out to fondas, especially in Parque O´Higgings , eat empanadas, dance cuecas or cumbias, but I haven´t back in long time because they are very expensive!!  So, now I prefer go to folkloric parties that organizes my commune (Maipú) because these have more variety of show, drinks and food are cheaper (the entry cost only $1000!) and you have a very good time anyways.
Last year I went to Fiestas Patrias show in Maipú in the Municipal Pool, which is a bigger compound. I went with my mom, my mom´s partner and a friend of me. When we were inside of the pool, we walked for the stands of drinks, food, crafts and typical games (we didn´t participate in neither of them). Then, we went to principal stage and we saw some contest and many folkloric groups showing typical dances of the different zones of Chile, and typical dances of Latin-American countries, that was a very beautiful show.
After a while, I and my friend went to buy Terremotos and fried chips, we started to talk stupid things, laughing between us. Then, we returned to where my mom and her partner and we started to dance some cuecas and cumbias (very fun).
I really enjoyed these Fiestas Patrias  show because was different to what had celebrate, I loved the folk groups and I share these experience with people which isn´t very close to my family and I had better than ever.

A concert that I would like to go!!

To begin this blog, I must to say that I have never gone to a big concert, only I have been in little shows of my commune (I know, my life is so sad); so, in this topic I´m going to talk about  a concert that I would like to go.

Well, one of my favorites band is Coldplay, I like their songs and the Chis Martin´s voice; definitely I would like to listen them in live if I had enough money and call one to my friends to accompany me, I wouldn´t doubt to go.

I would like to see them  play in a concert on tour for Sudamerica or as special guest of a music festival, for example, Lollapalloza, one of the biggest music festivals in the world; for that occasion I would go with one of my best friends and invite to friends of my friend for enjoy the concert all together.

I can imagine so many things that I would enjoy in that concert, as the sounds of the music instruments, the Chis Martin´s voice in live and sing their songs with the multitude. How people say “there´s always a first time”…… I´m still waiting.

80´s music: my favorite style!

If I had to choose a period that I would like to had been born, no doubt to say the 80’s years. That decade was revolutionary in many senses, highlighting the new tendencies in fashion and music, and for me, the best thing of 80´s was the music. I must to thank to my dad because he loves this music and he passed this taste on me when I was a little girl.

Of the 80’s music, I like all their types, but the music that I listen with more frequency is the 80´s pop. The singers and musical groups that belong to this category are Rick Astley, Duran Duran, A-ha, Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode and my favorite 80´s group, U2. But I don´t forget of 80´s rock groups as Queen, Kiss, Europe, Bon Jovi and many others that I wouldn´t reach to name because the little space of this blog.

I feel so lucky to have inherited this fascination for this music, because, to being honest, the actual music is a crap, I mean, the quality of sounds and the letters of songs are very poor. For this reason, my love for the 80´s music is so strong.

Chaplin: a historical figure that would like to have met

Definitely, I would have like to have met is Charles Chaplin, important comedian, producer, composer and writer British of the early twentieth century. I would have like to met him because he was a very talented in everything he did, the deep messages that he sent to society of those years in their works, and specially, with all the fame that he reached, he never left to be a humble person y that is hard to keep having fame.

I would ask him just one question in special: Where did you get that joy, good humor to face adversity in his personal life and bad things that around him?

I find him more that interesting, an example of how to smile to life, doesn´t matter their difficulties. As I am a girl that I like to be happy (although don´t see it on me), Chaplin makes me laugh (the last film that watched to him was “The Great Dictator”) and makes me think about the way that I have living my life and how to be a better person for around the people.

As Chaplin says: “Never forget to smile, because the day will be a day not lost smile”.

My favourite piece of technology

Honestly, technology don´t call my attention, but if I had to choose some technology piece, I would say that is my notebook. This is a gift for Christmas of the last year and I really was surprised when received it because I never think that this piece as coming as soon. Well, basically it use for listen my music to higher volume, enter to my favorites web sites as YouTube, Facebook  and some web sites about videogames; however, I use it as work tool because I can do and save home works that university sends me. Generally, I use it every day in the evening for relax, but when I must to do home works, I use it early.
I like this notebook because I can bring it with me to different places (always that this place get Wi-Fi), I can do many things at the same time (like write a mail and listen music) and I can save my own records as photos, music, videos, etc.
My life without my notebook wouldn’t be terrible, but I must to recognize that it is necessary especially for home works, and I realized when I started to study in the university.

Comparison school V/S university: my own experience

My school was small, but very demanding with personal presentation and its exams (sometimes I had exams 2 weeks in a row), of UST style, namely, only alternatives, for this reason, they did not do practical home works except for Art and PE. In the first and second year I had approx. 9 subjects: maths, language, EP., chemistry, history, biology, physics and sports workshop that was independent of PE, and the third and fourth year elective classes, I had to choose between scientific and humanistic area and I chose scientific subjects of chemistry, biology and maths because it was less boring for me, and with it had approx. 12 subjects. As my school was small, it hadn´t casino (we had lunch in the classroom or on the patio), computer lab and gym (it was only a court), anyway I still felt pretty comfortable. In the first year were 45 people in the classroom, but not all resisted the demands of school and they retired in second year, since there were 37, with 8 men and  the other was women.

Here in college, I haven´t felt such a drastic change of the passage from school to university and I think that my school helped a lot, also here there is more freedom to do what you want (without harming anyone) and the demand is greater, because this place teach you how to be adult, also recognizing that the university delivers free time for leisure.

ORAL PRESENTATION. TYPES OF LANDSCAPE.

Geography is a multidiscipline that studies the constant interplay between man and nature, and this constant interplay results in different expressions of space. The topic I would like to present on this occasion consists of those spatial expressions according to their conformation, namely, the types of landscapes and simultaneously, a brief overview of each. A definition of landscape is the physical representation of geographic space or put more simply, is what is observed in the territory.

From this, it is possible to identify natural landscapes and landscapes operated by the hand of man; can be the first name:
     a)    Mountain landscapes: rocky hills are formed by the folding of tectonic plates, here rivers are born from the melting and glaciers can be found. For example: Patagonia and around the Cordillera de Los Andes.

b)
Coastal Landscapes: here you can find different types of coast according to their training, such as beaches, cliffs, fiords and among others. They are found throughout Chile.

On the other hand, have operated landscapes. Can be:
a) Cityscape: it have a high population density; however, its dimension is depending on the amount of population that lives in that space its main economic activities are the secondary (industry) and tertiary (services). Ex: Santiago, Antofagasta, etc.

b) Rural landscape: its population is less than 1000 inhabitants, its main economic activity are the primary (agriculture, livestock, fisheries) and identify typical elements of rural landscape, as a plots, farms and fields. Ex: Vicuña, Mostazal, etc.

Why one decided to study geography?

By Natalia Nova R.

Not easy to decide at the age of 17 or 18 years studying race is preferred because isn´t a decision everyone, this is a serious decision that defines the future of the person, a decision that can lead to success or failure depending on the handling of the circumstances that come before us.

In my case I had in mind several races that were preferred, scientific and environmental area, such as Biochemistry, Chemistry and Pharmacy, Environmental Engineering, Technical environment, but none of them completely convinced me to choose definitely one of them. So in my tastes, I thought of some things that could benefit them out good and I remembered that was a child, my favorite pastimes were looking at maps and taking a walk around my neighborhood. Researching on the Internet I found the career of geography, race and his name did not look like a traditional career and this detail had caught my attention and above all, I knew I had the elements I like: nature, land and maps; so after that, I signed up quickly.

Geography is a very full career, his general definition is the study of the interrelationship between natural elements and social elements, making the race more interesting, becoming more interesting to know more about the geography for educate  population about the processes that she studies. I confess that at first I wasn´t  convinced about their subjects, but now I'm studying I do not regret having chosen and in fact, was better than I expected.
